Communal politics manifests in several forms. First, everyday communal beliefs involve prejudiced thinking, where individuals believe their religion is superior, leading to stereotypes. For example, assuming a religious group is inherently disloyal. Second, majoritarian dominance occurs when the majority community seeks political control, discriminating against minorities. An instance is state policies overtly favoring the majority religion. Third, political mobilization uses religious symbols and appeals to garner electoral support. A party campaigning solely on protecting its religious group's perceived glory exemplifies this. Fourth, communal violence is the most extreme, involving riots and atrocities between religious groups. The anti-Sikh riots of 1984 serve as a tragic example. These forms progressively undermine democratic principles and social harmony.
