Manyakhet, also known as Malkhed, located in present-day Karnataka, served as the capital city for the powerful Rashtrakuta dynasty for a significant period. Later, it also became an important center for the Western Chalukyas of Kalyani. Puhar (Kaveripattinam) was a port city of the Cholas, Thanjavur was the capital of the Cholas in Tamil Nadu, and Kanauj was a key city in North India contested during the Tripartite Struggle, not a Deccan capital for these dynasties.
